Sheena Walker has been a swim coach and English teacher at West Brook High School for the past 19 years. If she could give any advice to new teachers, she said she would tell them to build relationships with their students.
The Bear Cave was a building dedicated to the freshman class since 2018 and an iconic building at our beloved school where all incoming freshmen had the majority of their first high school classes. However, this year, the incoming freshmen to West Brook High School did not experience being sheltered in a single building.
Although this is Mx. Kalairn Koats’ first year of teaching, this is not their first year working at West Brook High School. Before becoming a teacher, Koats was an American Sign Language Interpreter. They said they became a teacher because they fell in love with teaching after being an educational interpreter for a couple of years.
West Brook High School’s Green Club is celebrating its second year on campus, actively trying to make the campus a better and cleaner place. Juniors Crystal Liu and Hailey Renick started the club with the help of teacher and cross country coach Nicole Tarabay.
House Bill 1959 is an important piece of legislation that seeks to address the needs of peace officers who are also parents. By granting them the ability to request transfers for their children, the bill recognizes the unique circumstances these individuals face.
